Ani-Me Con at Fresno Manchester Mall

16 Jun

I spent the majority of yesterday snapping photos at the Ani-Me Con at Fresno’s Manchester Mall yesterday while helping at the Ani-Jam booth. And by “helping” I mean wandering by every few minutes complaining about my back aching and sitting on the floor by the table. Being pregnant and puffy and unable to squeeze into my cosplays, I wore my Think Geek “Now Loading… Please Wait” maternity shirt that my mum got me so I could self-identify as a fellow geekling. But there’s always a frustrating “naked” feeling with being at a con and not in cosplay.

So! I got my cosplay jollies out by taking pictures of friends and con-goers in costume. Since I don’t charge for my photos and I don’t really care to be one of the “cosplay photographers” that lurks around a pretty or neutral background, I tend to be rather timid about approaching cosplayers to pose for me when the photo bug bites. So I mostly just grabbed my friends Will, Dani, (Neeka Cosplay) and Kelly and made them pose for me so I could enjoy an evening of photoshopping cosplay photos while watching High School Musical.

Also, my good friend Will – who cosplays Captain Jack Sparrow – took first place in the cosplay contest! Check out our Pirates of the Caribbean photoshoot at Cypress Cove, California here.

I can’t wait for Ani-Jam this August 17 + 18th. With so many things being up in the air with Jonathan in the Navy- (we don’t even know where we’ll be after this August!) – Ani-Jam will be my last convention of the year. I’ve really enjoyed being adopted into the AJ family. Ever since they took me on as Cosplay Coordinator last year, I’ve made some amazing friends and adopted family, and I can’t imagine my convention year being complete without the delightful madness of Ani-Jam, my AJ Overlords and the rest of the gang. If you haven’t pre-registered for this convention (and the Cosplay Masquerade being organized by yours truly) DO SO NOW!

How about Pregnant Padme Amidala??? 🙂

I thought about that, but I’d want my husband to be Anakin! And he’s in Navy Boot Camp right now… so maybe next pregnancy?! lol!

Awesome pics! 🙂 I loved the pic you got of those maids and butlers performing. (It hits a soft spot for me since I’m also a fellow maid, lol.)

I also think it’s awesome you watch High School Musical. It’s so rare to find an anime fan who isn’t afraid to admit that they’ve seen HSM. ❤

Thank you! LOL, and yes, I’m freakishly addicted to High School Musical, hehe! I was working at Disneyland when the High School Musical 2 parade was performing three times a day at Disney’s California Adventure, so it hits a soft spot in my heart. Zac Efron looking yummy doesn’t hurt much, either. 😉

So how does one get to be a maid??

OMG. I own High School Musical Sing It and know the choreography to “We’re All in This Together” and “All For One.” LOLz. This is awesome.

I became a maid for Anime Expo 3 years ago. 🙂 I just applied one day and here I am 3 years later, lol.

I taught myself the choreography to “We’re All in This Together” and “All For One”!! Hahaha.. I’ve found a kindred spirit!!! I am trying *so hard* to get my husband to cosplay Troy Bolton so can be Gabriella, but so far no dice. He says there are certain cosplays where he draws the line and that is one of them… haha! 😉

And that is so cool about the maid thingy! Are you going to be a maid at AX this year? I will have to drop by and say hi and snap some pix of you!… and maybe dance to “All In This Together”, haha!

Omg, I hope one day your hubby agrees to be your Troy. I need to see pics of that, haha.

Yes, I actually manage the maid cafe. 🙂 lol. Come drop by and say hello! ❤

I miss cosplaying terribly, but I am very excited about my baby! I can’t wait to meet her… and dress her up! haha.. 😉
