Weekend in Hoodsport, Washington and the Olympic Peninsula

We’re wrapping up our visit to Jonathans parents in Washington State. This whole trip I’ve been in a very contemplative, self-contained mood, reflecting on the first time I came to meet “my boyfriends parents” and now they are my in-laws. Not to mention, this tiny human being wiggling around in my stomach during Mothers Day weekend gives me lots of room for introversion and personal reflection.

The little town of Hoodsport, Washington – where we stayed in a small cabin by a creek over the weekend – is gorgeous and is flanked by the breathtaking Olympic Mountains. The constant drizzle and overcast skies puts me into a very happy place. I crave the melancholy gloom of impending rain, and so trips to Washington rarely upset me weather-wise. I had an uncontrollable urge to join the beachcombers with buckets hunting around for clams, scallops, crabs and shrimp along the beach, but sledging around in the mud apparently didn’t strike anyone else as an enjoyable way to spend the weekend, haha.

While I enjoyed the sights, sounds, and blatant and unabashed tourism this week in Washington has brought (especially during our visit to Forks, Washington), I am quite ready to be home now. Impatient, even. There is so much to do, and so little time to do it in.

My husband leaves for Navy boot camp three weeks from today. *commence impending mental breakdown….. now.*

Breathe, darlin’…it will all be ok. 🙂

What are his plans when he gets in the Navy? Is he going to be at sea for months at a time??

He might, chances are that he’ll have at least ONE 6-8 month stint at sea, but what is super stressful right now is that he’ll be in boot through all of my 3rd trimester, and will be sent to A School during my due date, so there is a chance we won’t be able to be near each other when Tessa is born… 😦

No! I thought he was going to be able to…that sucks. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
